Paulo Steagall (DVM, MS, PhD, DACVAA)

Dr. Paulo Steagall is a Professor of Veterinary Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the City University of Hong Kong and the Université de Montréal. He is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia and head of a clinical research laboratory dedicated to improving pain management and the welfare of companion animals with an emphasis on cats (www.felinegrimacescale.com). He is a member of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Global Pain Council and co-chair of the WSAVA Therapeutic Guidelines and the 2022 International Society of Feline Medicine Acute Pain Management Consensus guidelines. Together with Polly Taylor, he has been leading the initiative “FECAVA Basic Best Practices in Anaesthesia and Analgesia”. He has published over 120 scientific articles on pain management in small animals and the book “Feline Anesthesia and Pain Management” while lecturing internationally.
